The burglar protection on the Winchester Legacy 53 Gun Safe is just as good as the fire protection. It is UL-listed for burglary protection - RSC-rated. This stands for Residential Security Container. Plus, it exceeds the California Department of Justice requirements. This is due to the solid ten-gauge body formed with robotic continuous welds. Plus a 1/4 heat-treated steel outer plate in the door, auxiliary re-locker, pry-resistant recessed door, reinforced return door jamb, titanium disk, and the 3-way boltwork. There are 18 steel locking bolts, 2" in diameter each. A total of 12 are active bolts, including top/bottom locking bolts plus six deadbolts for pry resistance. Winchester includes pre-drilled anchor holes to bolt down the safe to prevent tipping for pry leverage or removal of the safe by thieves.
